Summary
In short. We collect only what our forms ask for, use it only to run Ek Mutthi Gulal, never sell it, and keep it for 24 months. We use Google Tag Manager for analytics. You can ask us to show, correct or delete your data, and you can block cookies in your browser.
Who We Are
This website is operated by Ek Mutthi Gulal, a citizens' initiative run from Raipur, Chhattisgarh ("we", "us"). For the purposes of India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the "DPDP Act") and the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025, we are the Data Fiduciary for the personal data you give us through this website. Our contact details are at the end of this page.
What We Collect
- Pledge form: your name, city, and — only if you choose to give them — your email address and mobile number, a short message for our jawans, and whether you would like to volunteer.
- Institution form: the name and type of your school, college, company, society, NGO or group; your name, city, email and optional mobile number; the approximate number of participants; your message.
- Sponsor form: your name, company, role (optional), work email, optional mobile number, the sponsorship category you are interested in, your message.
- Contact form: your name, email, optional mobile number, subject and message.
- Consent record: the time you accepted this policy and confirmed that you are 18 or older (or that a parent or guardian is submitting for you).
- Technical data for security: a one-way, salted hash of your IP address and the first part of your browser's user-agent text, used only to stop spam and abuse. We cannot recover your IP address from the hash. Our hosting provider may also keep standard server logs (such as IP address, time and requested page) for security and reliability.
- Usage data and cookies (analytics): when you visit, Google Tag Manager loads
measurement tags that may set cookies (such as
_ga) and record your approximate location, device and the pages you view. See "Cookies and Analytics" below.
We do not collect payment details, government ID numbers, precise location, photos or any "special" categories of data. We do not sell advertising and we run no tracking pixels of our own. We do use Google Tag Manager to load measurement tags (see "Cookies and Analytics" below), which makes requests to Google's servers.
Why We Use It
- To record your pledge and tell you where to hand over your gulal.
- To reply to your message or enquiry.
- To organise collections and events with the schools, societies, companies and NGOs that ask to take part, and to discuss sponsorship with brands that enquire.
- To deliver messages for soldiers that you choose to send (without your name, unless you agree).
- To protect our forms and website from spam, abuse and security incidents.
- To understand, in aggregate, how the website is used, so that we can improve it.
- To meet our legal obligations.
We use your data only for these purposes.
Your Consent
We process your personal data on the basis of your consent, which you give by submitting a form after reading this notice. Consent is free, specific, informed and unambiguous; submitting a form is optional. You can withdraw your consent at any time by writing to contact@ekmutthigulal.in. Withdrawal does not affect what we did before you withdrew, and we will stop using your data and delete it unless the law requires us to keep it. For analytics cookies we rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by blocking or deleting cookies in your browser.
Who Receives It
We never sell your data. We never share your details with sponsors, advertisers or other third parties for marketing. We share data only with service providers that act on our instructions to run this website — our web hosting provider and our email service provider (currently both provided by Hostinger) — and with authorities where the law requires. Team members and volunteers see your details only as needed for the purposes above.
We also use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics (provided by Google) to measure how the website is used. Google processes usage data and cookies on our behalf, and its own privacy policy applies to that processing.
Where Your Data Is Stored
Your data is stored on servers operated by our hosting provider, which may be located outside India. Where data is processed outside India, we rely on providers that apply appropriate safeguards, and we do not transfer data to any country restricted under Indian law.
How Long We Keep It
We keep form submissions for 24 months from the date of submission, then delete them. Rolling database backups are kept for up to 14 days and are overwritten on that schedule. If you ask us to delete your data sooner, we will do so (including from the live database) within 30 days, subject to legal requirements.
How We Protect It
Pages and forms are served over HTTPS; our server configuration and database credentials are kept outside the public web folder; forms are protected by anti-spam and rate-limit controls; data is accessed only by authorised team members; and IP addresses are stored only as salted hashes. If a personal-data breach affecting you occurs, we will notify you and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.
Your Rights
As a Data Principal under the DPDP Act you may:
- ask for a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we use it;
- ask us to correct, complete or update it;
- ask us to erase it;
- withdraw your consent at any time;
- nominate another person to exercise your rights if you die or become unable to; and
- have your grievance heard and resolved (see below).
To use any right, write to contact@ekmutthigulal.in from the address you used on the form (or tell us the name and city you submitted) so we can find your record. We may ask for proof that the request is yours.
Grievance Redressal
If you have a concern about how we handle your data, contact Data Protection Contact, Ek Mutthi Gulal at contact@ekmutthigulal.in, 9090229033, or by post at Near Agrasen Dham, Chhokara Nala, Raipur, Chhattisgarh 492001. We will acknowledge your complaint within 3 working days and aim to resolve it within 30 days (and in any case within the period allowed by law). If you are not satisfied after using this process, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India once it is functioning.
Children
For this policy a child is anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect a child's personal data. If a child wants to take part, a parent or guardian must submit the form for them and give consent on their behalf. We run no advertising and never show targeted advertising. If you believe a child's data has reached us without a parent's or guardian's consent, write to us and we will delete it promptly.
Cookies and Analytics
We use Google Tag Manager (container GTM-N4LBP9V4) to load
measurement tags, including Google Analytics. When you visit, these services may
set cookies (for example _ga and _gid) and collect usage data such as
the pages you view, your approximate location and your device type. We use this data only in
aggregate, to understand how the website is used.
You can refuse or delete these cookies in your browser settings, and blocking them does not stop you using the website. See the Cookie & Storage Notice for the specific cookies we set.
Cookies and Browser Storage
Besides the analytics cookies described above, your browser may store one small preference (your animation setting) on your device; see the Cookie & Storage Notice.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date. If a change is significant, we will say so on the home page. Using the website after an update means you accept the updated policy; if we need fresh consent, we will ask for it.
