About
Unity in Diversity, in a Fistful of Colour.
A small gesture from every citizen, carried to the people who stand watch.
The Idea
One Handful, From Every Hand.
Ek Mutthi Gulal is a citizens' initiative to honour the unity in diversity that holds India together. Holi has always meant oneness — a day when the barriers of age, income and background dissolve into colour.
We ask for something small: one fistful of gulal from every citizen, of every age and every city, without regard to caste or religion. We collect it across the country, carry it to India's borders, and on Holi we apply it on the foreheads of our soldiers — Holi Ke Rang, Jawanon Ke Sang.
It is not a scheme or a slogan. It is a way for a family in Raipur, a student in Pune and a commuter in Delhi to say the same simple thing to someone standing watch far from home: we remember you.

Who Is Behind This
A Citizens' Initiative, Run by Volunteers.
Ek Mutthi Gulal is a citizens' initiative, run from Raipur, Chhattisgarh by a team of volunteers and well-wishers. It is not an official programme of the Indian Armed Forces or the Government of India, and no government or military body endorses it.
We publish real contact details so you can reach a person, and we never show invented names, badges or numbers. Every figure on this website is a plan or a goal, and it is labelled as one.
Why Holi, Why Soldiers.
Holi is the one festival that dissolves every barrier — of age, income and background — into colour. Our soldiers stand far from home for that festival, so that we can celebrate it. A fistful of gulal is a small way for every Indian to say the same thing to them: we remember you.
देश की मिट्टी का गुलाल, देश के वीरों के माथे पर लगाने का प्रण.
Ek Mutthi Gulal — a vow to place the gulal of this land's soil on the foreheads of its brave.
Colors of Courage
The Story in Three Colours.
Every citizen adds one colour — saffron for courage, white for peace, green for resilience and blue for loyalty.
Collected from homes, societies, campuses, malls and offices, the colours become one rainbow that belongs to everyone.
The gulal travels across the country in a branded cavalcade, from your city to India’s borders.
Objectives
What This Movement Sets Out to Do.
Give every citizen a simple, physical way to thank the soldiers who guard the nation — a fistful of gulal carried to the border and applied on their foreheads.
Bring citizens and jawans closer, so the uniform and the citizen feel like one family celebrating together.
Remind every jawan that the whole country remembers them and stands with them.
Teach young Indians about the life, discipline and sacrifice of those who serve at the borders.
Collect gulal from every hand — without regard to caste, religion, region or profession — so the movement belongs to everyone.
Holi is a festival that dissolves barriers. Use its colours to build oneness, not division.
Encourage organic, skin-safe, eco-friendly gulal and a responsible, inclusive use of colour and water.
Give students and young professionals a cause to organise around, on campuses and in their first workplaces.
Turn a festival into a yearly expression of unity in diversity — Anekta Mein Ekta.
Who We Bring Together
Everyone, Without Exception.
- Citizens of every background and age
- Government organisations and officials
- Corporates and private organisations
- Societies and apartments
- Schools, colleges and NGOs
- Army veterans, soldiers’ families and children
A Holi That Cares.
We encourage organic, skin-safe and eco-friendly gulal, and a responsible use of colour and water. We ask everyone to keep the celebration inclusive — of persons with disabilities, of marginalised communities, and of anyone who would rather watch than play.
Our movement is about gratitude, never about pressure. Nobody is obliged to give, and no one should feel excluded for choosing not to.
Anthem
A campaign anthem is planned, to be written and sung by well-known voices of the music industry. It does not exist yet — when it does, it will be shared here.
